Kitezone Reglementation

Remi showing us the Kitezone rulesFor anyone who wants to use the Kitezone, whether they rent equipment or bring their own, there are a few rules that apply in order to keep the Kitezone a safe place for everyone.
To make the Kitezone a safe place to kitesurf we require:

  • A minimum level of IKO Level 3J or the ability to ride constantly upwind and safely amongst others
  • A third party liability insurance for the sport of kitesurfing
  • With off-shore wind a rescue boat fee of € 25 per day or € 60 per week
  • With on-shore wind no charge
  • You read, date and sign the rules and regulations of the Kitezone
  • You wear the Kitezone rash vest (deposit: € 50) which proves that you have all of the above rules and regulations

On the beach:Always put some sand on your kite!

  • Set up on the right hand side of the Kitezone and leave all spare kites / bags / pumps on the extremities of the zone
  • Always put sand on your kite to weigh it down
  • Never launch or land a kite over anybody or anything
  • Please leave the beach how you found it (take with you any rubbish including cigarette ends!)

On the water:

  • Stay in-between yellow marker buoys until out past 300m (the last buoy) then stay in easy vision of rescue boat and Kitezone
  • Do not use the two lanes either side of the Kitezone, these are security areas where we cannot kitesurf and swimmers cannot swim
  • Give the right of way to beginners
  • Follow the international rules of the road when on the water and at all costs avoid collision
  • If you are in trouble and need assistance – put kite at the zenith (12 o’clock) and keep still - if the kite is in the water signal with one arm
  • If you hear THREE loud blasts from an air horn please come off the water and do not go back on until otherwise informed
